JieStar 58144 SDF-1 Macross

When I saw this online, I just knew I had to have it! This took around 40 hours of build time to complete. The instructions were logical in their approach but had a few minor errors, nothing that would prevent completing the build. The completed SDF-1 does transform, but it is made with building blocks, so one needs to be gentle when moving the larger sections. Being that these are not the traditional brand name of building blocks, the fit was a bit tighter and required a little more effort to get larger assemblies to fit together, but it was worth it for the price paid. The attention to detail and creativity of design is excellent. There are multiple cannons that can be independently moved. They gave great attention to detail in ensuring that the arms and torso can lock into position when in spaceship mode. The Daedalus has a moveable door on the front to help complete a Daedalus maneuver. There are also light up LED lights at the tips of the main guns. There is an empty space in the main hull where something the size of a space fold drive would fit nicely. Overall, this was a fun build and I enjoyed it greatly. This one is definitely designed for a more advanced builder since it requires a lot of attention to the subtle details in the instructions.
